Some Colorado Buffaloes players quit due to head coach Deion Sanders' weird Lil Wayne rule.
At the Buffaloes' Spring Game weekend in April, Lil Wayne performed. Deion Sanders, Boulder's head football coach in his second season, is good friends with the beloved rapper.
Athlon Sports said that “Prime Time” required his players to attend the Lil Wayne event. Multiple Colorado players told the newspaper that the Pro Football Hall of Famer “threatened to dismiss anyone who skipped out.”
Shedeur Sanders, Deion Sanders' son, performed “Perfect Timing” at Lil Wayne's event. The Buffaloes have lost nearly 30 players via the transfer portal this offseason.
Sanders signed a $29.5 million, five-year Buffaloes contract after three years at Jackson State. After winning two SWAC titles with the Tigers, Prime Time brought Shedeur and other Jackson State stars to Boulder.
Last season, Colorado started 3-0, including a win over TCU in the opener. As their schedule got harder, the Buffaloes lost eight of their final nine games to finish 4-8.
The Buffaloes' offensive line was a major issue last year, but Deion Sanders and crew added numerous players to improve Shedeur's pass protection.
Colorado is more hyped this time. Healthy two-way standout Travis Hunter and inevitable Sheduer improvement could help Colorado in 2024.
