Blake Lively feels her new film and Taylor Swift suit each other.
The romance drama It Ends With Us (in cinemas Aug. 9) stars Lively, 36, and Justin Baldoni and incorporates Swift's “My Tears Ricochet” in its teaser.
“Them together made a lot of sense,” Lively remarked during a Book Bonanza Q&A panel, co-founded by Hoover, 44.
“My Tears Ricochet” is from Swift, 34,'s 2020 Grammy-winning Folklore, her eighth studio album.
Produced with Jack Antonoff and then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, its lyrics depict a murdered woman haunting her killer: "I didn't have it in myself to go gracefully / So the battleships will sink / You had to kill me, but it killed you too."
Lively, who executive produces and stars in It Ends With Us, said the song's lyrics suit Hoover's story about her character, a woman struggling with domestic abuse.
Gossip Girl star: “Colleen is able to tell something that's deeply personal and intimate but resonates with so many people.” Taylor is a great writer. She writes from vulnerability and real experience.”
She said Hoover and Swift are “women who are authoring their stories,” praising “what Taylor’s done with her life and career.” She said Hoover “started [her novelist career] self-published.”
